NMJ Topline of CargoNet Di8.707 in silver/yellow livery with Lokpilot DCC sound decoder. Same technical data as the 85202
After tests and several years with rental of the NS 6400 Diesel locomotive from MAK, NSB decided for 20 locomotives of a similar type, with a stronger Caterpillar 3516DITA (2135 HP) for the freight services. The locomotive has a length of 17380 mm, weight of 82 tons and with a maximum speed of 120 km/h. MAK was taken over by Siemens and NSB Di 8 got electrical/technical equipment from Siemens instead of ABB. Di 8 were delievered in 1996-97 with the loco number 8.701-8.720. After the NSB cargo division, the locomotive came to CargoNet in 2002. Di 8 are in use for freight service all over Norway, also on the electrified network. Ten Di 8 locomotives weresold to Scotland in December 2011.
