NSB El 17 was constructed for the new express trains with B7 type coaches which entered service in 1982. El 17 was built by NEBB,ABB, BBC and Henschel. The El 17 locomotive has a weight of 64 tons and develop 4090 HK with a total lenght of 16300mm and permitted speed of 150km/h. El 17 and B7 coaches was probably the most elegant train on the NSB network.
