History

NSB wanted to test the lightweight and affordable Swedish motorcars type Yd and ordered one to see if this could also be an alternative for NSB. The test car Cm 18246 for the Bergen district was ready for testing and delivery on 11.2.1937.

p>After approved test runs, it was driven under its own power to Trondheim on 13.2.1937. After having covered 1752 km from Umeå to Bergen, it was approved for traffic by the Bergen District on 23.2.1937. 18246 was then put into local traffic, including Hønefoss-Grindbakken, and operated for a time on the Numedals Line. After Skabo received a license to build for Norway, NSB and Bruksbanen Askim Solbergfoss Line each ordered a motor vehicle, which was delivered in 1938. 18249 was put into service in the Oslo District, including on the Oslo-Hakadal and Lillestrøm-Eidsvoll sections.

Cmb 16 was put into service at Gardermoen and became Norway's first Airport Express train.

The carriage in Oslo District soon proved too small and was transferred to Drammen District. It was soon put into use as an administration and inspection carriage
